The forests of Lotlein
The territories dubbed as the Forests of Lotlein stretch as far as the giant jungles of the southern Great Continent spread, from the south-western shores of Ook to the Petrified Woods to the far East, following the shore along the way. It is one of the vastest lands on Etaliari, and one hiding many wonders and biomes. Temperate forests of giant trees, humid jungles littered with slithering rivers, and damp swamps and marshes, this land holds them all, and more, tied together into one most impressive package.
The Lotlar have built their giant cities and villages in the canopy of the titan trees found all across their forests, mixing magic with their incredible carpentry skills to weave settlements, houses and temples out of the branches and roots of their hometrees, linking them with solid and twisting bridges, intricate stairs woven with roots, and ingenious elevators linking the ground to the canopy. The capital of Lotlein is Mei-Reh Town, a bustling city built inside the hollow trunk of the largest titan tree in Lotlein, often called the Mother Tree. The city and all of its districts are separated in layers across the inside of the tree, which has a diameter of about seven football fields. Each of those layers are built on bridges and platforms suspended by roots and connected to the trunk in a brilliant show of carpentry mastery that the Lotlar will proudly show off. To keep their city safe, they will never use fire to light up the inside of the trunk, and will instead rely on crystal power and lamps, glowing insects that they gather inside large webbed containers that they suspend all over the town, and magical lights created by permanent runes engraved on the trunk.
The city is home to the Elder Clan of Lotlein, lead by Matriarch Willowroot and her gigantic flock. She is found at the top of the tree, in the Canopy District of the capital, where her humble dwelling looks upon her entire kingdom.
The Lotlar share their land with the Coral Ehas along their southern shores, where the Palace of Coral can be found; the two species have co-existed in harmony for as long as they’ve known each other, and so have shared and traded with each other for a long time as well. While the Ehas are water-borne Ikrouks, they cannot climb the trees to claim fruits or farm the land, so in exchange for these exotic food items and more, they fish for the Lotlar and provide them with seafood and sturdy materials from the Palace. Other than that, the Lotlar don’t leave their forests that often to go trade, nor are they that much trusting of the Ook, so they tend to fend for themselves and turn to other races and wandering merchants for trading.
